Meet the team of Rohingya refugees in Malaysia
“Small club, big dream” might be one of the most commonly used football expressions, but for a team of Rohingya refugees in Malaysia, it certainly is the case. For ninety minutes every week, players from the Rohingya Football club get to escape their daily struggles and the plight of their people in their homeland, Myanmar. Marginalised, discriminated and denied basic rights, many fled the country in hope of a better tomorrow. Like many of their compatriots finding themselves stuck in a precarious limbo in Malaysia, this group of players banded together to form the club – as a means to change all that.
